Clinton but the big wind bag got into the office of the president..He is so gouche I don't know if I am spelling it correctly but he is so crude and rude I want to slap the living you know what out of him..I will not be watching the inaugural stuff whatsoever..I just cannot phanthom our great country with him as our leader! not at all..What a divided country oh, my goodness sakes alive, we used to live in Colorful Colorado and our only was born in Westmninster Colorado yet we lived in Aurora, we loved Boulder so much and where you happen to live we went there all the time..But times have changed and so has our wonderful country..Good for you upon going back to TEACH the most honorable of all professions indeed. Washington state appreciates their TEACHERS and they show it with their passing bond levies all the time so TEACHERS CAN GET PAID!!!!!!!!! I pray daily for our great country..The man who got elected stole the victory as far as I am concerned, President Obama we loved and loved his wonderful wife Michelle, it is unfortunate that he lost to such a creep...Good wishes to your teaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041834369094012241.post-46912858706021722002017-01-16T19:44:21.079-07:002017-01-16T19:44:21.079-07:00Sally,

I kept the tissue box handy as I watched President Obama's farewell speech, and again as I watched Vice-President Biden's speech after receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It's not only a sense of innocence that has been lost, though. It's a sense of hope that has been lost as well. We will find hope again, and perhaps it is as President Obama said about citizenship when he said, “I’m asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about change — but in yours” at the close of his farewell address. The next president will never come close to the grace, dignity, sincerity, or eloquence of President Obama.
~Lynette L.~earthbound misfit~https://www.blogger.com/profile/07091858133581906589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7041834369094012241.post-55232492664197045302017-01-16T10:53:59.189-07:002017-01-16T10:53:59.189-07:00Beautifully thoughtful words and sentiments. Thoughtful, ar...Oh Sally, what a gift in this post. Thoughtful, articulate, so well reasoned. Civility did lose. And we are all lost because of it. I cried as you did during both addresses -- tears of longing for decent men and women who were thoughtful, articulate, well reasoned. While I tended to agree, even if one had a different opinion they could never say they were talked down to, berated or that it was presented in an unreasonable, offensive way. Integrity. I will miss that. I wish I saw it in Congress but I don't even see it there. It IS the end of an era and the start of something fearful.

I have felt such sadness, such stress. There were many times when I didn't agree with previous presidents or their administrations, their actions or their words. But it was for different reasons -- a difference of opinion. And we moved on. I never really felt afraid for our nation. I do now and it's a bad feeling.

Enough of this. What I really wanted to say was this was spot on, beautifully written and I couldn't agree more with each and every word. But I am determined to resist, speak truth to power, protest whatever I cannot actually change, and support the organizations I see fighting back. I think Trump is going to blunder into situations that enable the GOP and Dems combined to bring him down. Then Pence will take over with a very regressive agenda, and then, I hope, new elections will bring back people who care about human rights, health care, humanity, civility. Meanwhile We the People need to keep that agenda in the forefront of our own activities. After watching and listening to him, I said to Ken, "Wasn't it refreshing to hear him answer questions directly, with substance, rather than listening to Trump's empty boasts?" And President Obama! I'm just a few years younger than you, but we share so many of the same memories. I was a freshman in high school when President Kennedy was shot, and a freshman in college when Dr. King was assassinated. I vividly remember where I was both times, and I remember crying over two of the saddest days in our recent history. I agree one hundred percent with you--it is the loss of civility and basic human decency that troubles me most about this election. I've never been very politically active, but I've vowed to be more so this year.
