Blogging has been on the back burner for the month of July. We are having a busy, happy, productive, and wonderful summer. I hope to catch you up on all our news soon.
As July ends, I hope we have warmer days in August. We've had very strange and unusual weather around here this month. For days it has rained. We've had so much rain, I am beginning to think I live in the Pacific Northwest. It has been so cold and rainy that the moisture came down as snow on top Pikes Peak the other day. I haven't seen the mountain itself in days, so I can't tell you if there is still snow up there or not, but I would guess there is.
If one lives in Colorado, we spend a lot of time joking about the weather. We say, "If you don't like the weather, stick around for five minutes and it will change." One thing doesn't change around here: the beautiful scenery where we live. Until I have time to write a more detailed account of our summer, I thought I would share a short video that illustrates some of the reasons I love where I live in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado.
As the summer progresses, I hope all of you are having fun with your family and friends. I heard a quote the other day that really spoke to me. As our summer days fill up with busy activities, I hope we all remember this adage while we strive to work towards balance in our lives.
Families today are
overcommitted
and
under connected.
We in the Pacific Northwest wouldn't mind you sending a bit of that rain back to us. We are literally burning up here.We must have hit a record by now of the number os summer days over 80, and there is no end in sight.
ReplyDeleteAs you can tell from Facebook, we have been busy too, and "connecting" has been a big part of that. As hard as I try, I don't seem to be able to slow the days down and keep them from zooming by.
I enjoyed the video. I have been to your city a couple of times. It is lovely there.
I love Colorado though I live in UTah...been through your state many times...
ReplyDeleteWow---can't believe there was snow on Pikes Peek.... Crazy--for July!!!! We all have had some weird weather this past month--all over the country.. Some places are too hot and some not so much... Lots of rain; no rain!!!! Crazy...
ReplyDeleteWe have had a very mild July overall --with no humidity... I've never seen a July this PERFECT before. I wish I could bottle it up and use it in Winter... ha
Sounds like you all have had and are having a great Summer...
Hugs,
Betsy
Interesting weather for all of us. I must say I'm fine with lots of sun and little rain here in the Pacific Northwest.
ReplyDeleteSnow in July? that's awful! However it sounds like you are still having a great summner.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see some news from you! It's been cool here in the Northeast as well (but no snow!), and actually a really nice summer. I have to laugh at your weather quote. So true, in many places (except Phoenix, where my sister lives, and it's sunny and 120 degrees every single day!). I'm pretty sure it was Mark Twain who said it first, about the weather in New England, but it sure applies to a lot of places, doesn't it. Take care!
ReplyDeleteYou are right--Colorado is a gorgeous state. I hope I will get the opportunity to travel there again sometime.
ReplyDeleteI lived in Boulder for almost forty years and loved it. But I am also loving the Pacific Northwest. I remember a 4th of July when I went backpacking in the mountains and was stranded by three feet of snow! That's right, in July. Strange weather, though, I admit. :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree that no matter what the weather Colorado is a wonderful place to live. I hope that as you stay busy through the summer that you are connecting with all the right people.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I can't imagine snow in July! Glad it's just on the mountaintops, though. I just got back from Portland a couple of weeks ago, and it was steaming hot there--I'm sure they would love to have their rainy weather back:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having a wonderful July; being busy when it means you are enjoying yourself is a good thing!
Your state is on my bucket list. Such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteEverywhere has had unusual weather. We have had a cool, wetter that normal summer which has been a delight. No temps over 100 all season. I could live like this.
July has been packed to the gills and we are spending the last day of it and the first few days of August away from the heat in San Francisco. Our temps have been over 100 and are forecast to be likewise for the next week. We are all weary of the heat and now the smoke from the Yosemite fires. even with a brief rain storm we've not cooled off.
ReplyDeleteWe're having a wonderful summer but it seems as though it has flown by. It has been unseasonably cool and more rain than usual. The garden looks great but I can't say I have much of a tan. That might not be a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteNice to see your post, Sally. Summers are busy. We have Sam for a week, and it's rained since we got him on Tuesday. I've only managed to get him out in the stroller for 15 minute spurts before the rain starts again. His family is having fun in the sun in CA! We do live in a beautiful state - I'm always in awe.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying your summer. A blog friend and her family were trying to camp in CO recently, but gave up and moved on over to Utah. There was just too much rain where they were in CO. Such a beautiful state though, no matter the weather.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see a post from you! It does sound as if you've been busy and have had unusual weather. We, too, here in Maine say, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." Maine is having a nice summer, though. Many rain storms have come during the night. My garden looks unusually productive. I hope I'm not jinxing it by saying that!
ReplyDeleteIt has been chilly here too, I was surprised by the asthma attack.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been odd over here too, Sally. Here in France we've had very mixed weather with rather a lot of rain, while up in Wales my sister has had the most beautiful summer with just enough rain to keep the garden looking good. What a mixed-up world we live in.
ReplyDeleteOur summer was full of activities but our Markham weather was really very crazy for this season:(
ReplyDeleteWe had to leave blogging a bit too. We had to focus more on family time and it's been great.
